Degraded situation awareness in a robotic workspace: accident report analysis

We adopted an approach based on interactions in a robotic workspace, coupled with Endsley’s model of Situation Awareness (SA), to identify factors that potentially degrade operators’ SA: the eight SA demons. propose here study implications these demons 45 industrial accidents involving robotic. These were associated possible human may have workspace. Our results showed five appeared accident reports examined. The identified mainly first level (perception level). also been able describe patterns demon occurence accidents. are generally involved human-robot rather than human-environment interactions.
